UFC on FX7-Bisping vs. Belfort- it is ALL over!

WAGNER PRADO came out swinging against ALCANTARA but had little success once he started fighting from distance and using his kicks.  Prado never changed tactics and was taken down at the end of the first.  An failed takedown by Prado lands him in an attempted guillotine, which leads to him flipping Alcantara on his back.  In a ground scramble Alcantara finds himself with Prado's legs and taps him out moments later as Prado yelps in pain.  A disappointing showing for Prado, but an exciting debut for Alcantara who next moves down to his natural middleweight division.

The other ALCANTARA, a bantamweight brother, looked to be all business in his fight, handling every moment as routine, even the groin kick.  Easily controlling his opponent with his strikes, the ref stopped the fight on the ground when Alcantara appeared to be striking the back of the head.  Replay shows this was not the case, but his opponent played it up and a sure victory for Alcantara becomes a "no contest."

EDSON BARBOZA didn't top his spectacular spinning heel kick KO- he only looked efficient, striking Martins easily.  A sweetly timed jab to the chin later and Barboza finished him on the ground.  Barboza now waits- hopefully not too long- for his next match.

NIK LENTZ caught an early kick by DIEGO NUNES, took him to the ground and controlled him there for rest of the round.  The same pattern followed in the second round.  In the third, Nunes came out striking more aggressively and was still taken down.  Although Nunes landed a knee that nearly altered the outcome of the fight, the decision went to Lentz.

The undefeated ANDREW CRAIG's poise served him well in the tougher stretches of the fight when RONNY MARKES took him to the ground and nearly arm-barred him.  But Markes fought more aggressively and pulled off the unanimous decision.

The popular featherweight GODOFREDO PEPEY fought MILTON VIEIRA close, with strikes leading to many scrambles and submission attempts along the ground.  Vieira appeared to control the fight more towards the second half but the judges awarded the split decision to Vieira.

KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV extended his streak to 19 wins with his dominant TKO victory over THIAGO TAVARES.  Nurmagomedov poses a dangerous threat to the other lightweights in his division and perhaps the UFC should challenge the beastly Russian with a strong wrestler in his next fight.

The BEN ROTHWELL hype train derailed when GABRIEL GONZAGA guillotined him in the second round.  By that time, both fighters had exhausted themselves by the end of the first round.  You'd like to be excited for Gonzaga, but his poor cardio will cost him when he wades into the deep end of the heavyweight pool

CB DOLLOWAY made a statement with his performance, as did DANIEL SARAFIAN.  Dolloway's experience and surges at the end of each round likely earned him a victory.  Sarafian's energy and aggressiveness makes him a must-watch in future fights and might be a tremendously fun match-up for Chris Leben.

VITOR BELFORT came out measured against MICHAEL BISPING, using his blitzes sparingly.  When Bisping ducked a punch right into a Belfort head kick, the connection nearly ended the fight.  When it happened again in the second round, Belfort hammer-fisted the grounded Bispbing, and his title aspirations, into a TKO loss.  For Bisping, another loss at the doorstep of a title fight sets him back a few paces.  Vitor appears to be the second best middleweight but with a recent highlight KO loss to Anderson Silva, he may need another fight before he gets another shot.
